Jinan City, Shandong Province
Jinan City, Shandong Province – long, long ago a young traveler by the name of Marco Polo
was exploring China, and paid a visit to Jinan. Ever since then, people have come to see
this lovely city for themselves, and many have stayed on. And with 18 universities in the city,
there are plenty of smart, hard working citizens in this thriving city. In the morning rush hour,
one can watch countless business men and business women on scooters, headed to work.

Qingdao or Tsingtao
Qingdao or Tsingtao – located in eastern Shandong Province, Qingdao is an amazing mix of
Chinese and international, traditional and modern, as well as exciting and yet peaceful.
Considered by many to be one of China’s coolest cities, Qingdao is home to great beaches
and seafood, top beer, as well as being an economic powerhouse city.
Jiangsu Province, Nanjing City
Jiangsu Province, Nanjing City – the garden waterfall is just one of many wonderful places to
visit in this delightful city. Purple Mountain, Xuanwu Lake and Jiming Temple are definitely
worth a visit. A lovely city, with a rich history, and plenty of important monuments and places
of interest to see and explore.

Ningbo
Ningbo – traveling to Ningbo across the Hangzhou Bay Bridge from Shanghai one summer, I
was amazed at the amount of time that could be reduced by this bridge. From 400 km to 80
km! And what a beautiful view along the way. I was on my way to visit a friend, who had
settled in Ningbo. After arriving, he took me to his favorite pet shops, of all places. This shop
specialized in koi fish, and had so many varieties that the colors were overwhelming!
Henan Province, Louyang City
Henan Province, Louyang City – the Longmen grottoes, also called the Longmen Caves, are
some of the most amazing examples of ancient Chinese Buddhist art in the entire country.
Literally thousands of these statues (maybe 100,000?) fill cave after cave. This is truly a
worthwhile trip.

Shanghai
Shanghai – if one is looking for excitement, then Shanghai is the place to be. And Pudong is
the heart of this excitement. The Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shanghai Tower and countless
other examples of this vibrant, worldly city stand tall and proud in the Pudong area. And with
one of the world’s busiest subway systems and four busy and expansive bridges connecting
one vibrant city area to the next, Shanghai is actually pretty straight forward in getting
around. So get to the nearest seafood restaurant, and order a plate of crabs!
Shanghai
Shanghai – cities all over the world are tasked with creating new modern city areas, while
trying to keep older, traditional city areas. Shanghai, one of the fastest growing and largest
cities in the world, has done an amazing job of keeping its old city center intact (as much as
possible).
